Description

Dr. Christine Najjar is an Internal and Obesity Medicine physician. She is the founder of Food First MD, a Connecticut based medical practice focused on empowering people to regain control of their health with the most underutilized medicine, food.

Dr. Christine was first drawn to the intricacies of the human body and nutrition from her own personal experience. Born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley, she spent summers in her parents native land, Lebanon where she grew to love Mediterranean cuisine. She recognized that every summer spent there, she was left feeling vibrant, clear, energized, and light. In addition, her waistline seemed to always shrink. When she came back to the United States, everything quickly reversed.

Yearning to understand how food affects the body, Dr. Christine studied biochemistry at McGill University and medicine at St. George’s University. She spent the latter two years of medical school working in various Brooklyn hospitals where she was exposed to the band aid of modern medicine and the overwhelming amount of chronic illness and disease. With a growing desire to deepen her nutrition-specific education, she executed a Master’s in Human Nutrition at Columbia University while participating in medical school clinical rotations.

After completing residency at the University of Connecticut, she worked as both a weight loss consultant and a primary care physician. In 2022, she launched Food First MD, with a mission to bring health back to healthcare. Dr Christine is driven to help patients avoid years of frustration, ineffective treatments, and debilitating ailments.  She reaches patients with an unprecedented level of both knowledge and compassion. Using a food first approach, Dr. Christine has helped countless patients reverse disease, reach an optimal weight, and reduce (or eliminate) the need for traditional medications.
